Good Parking News for Fresno State

Fresno State parking lots solar project

In a welcome development for Fresno State students, staff, and faculty, campus officials have shared exciting news regarding parking improvements on campus.

Tinnah Medina, the associate vice president for facilities management, and Derek Brantley, the director of parking and transportation, have announced significant progress in the Central Utility Plant Replacement (CUPR) project, specifically the P5 and P6 solar photovoltaic (PV) installation.

This progress has led to increased available parking spaces since the start of the semester, with more to come in the next few weeks.

Medina and Brantley anticipate that nearly all parking stalls will be available by October 20, except a few rows in P5 due to the staging area. This development is welcome news for the campus community grappling with parking challenges.

However, to facilitate the final stages of the project, there will be temporary disruptions to pedestrian pathways.

The contractor will restore landscaping on the pedestrian pathway between Woodrow Ave. and the Peters Business building. This work is expected to last approximately two weeks, when the path and adjacent parking spaces will be intermittently unavailable.

For those who rely on ADA parking spaces, temporary relocations will be arranged to parking lots P5 and P6 as needed.

To ensure the convenience and mobility of everyone on campus, Fresno State offers additional resources. Traffic Operations provides a limited shuttle service for those who park in the Save Mart Center North Lot.

Additionally, SCOUT, an on-campus transportation service, is available to support students with permanent or temporary mobility disabilities.

“This positive development in parking availability and the ongoing commitment to accessibility improvements underscore Fresno State’s dedication to enhancing the overall campus experience for its students, staff, and faculty,” Medina and Brantley said.
